It is a little late, but these are my predictions for the second round of the NFL Playoffs. The first round was the first time since the NFL expanded to eight divisions in 2002 that all four home teams lost. One game was ugly, one game started in favor of one team, but the other took control later. The other two were full-fledged thrillers. On the playoff’s very first play, the Kansas City Chiefs’ Knile Davis ran wild as he gave the Houston Texans tackle attempts de-Knile(get it)on his way to a 106-yard TD to begin a 30-0 rout. The Steelers led 15-0 off three Chris Boswell field goals and a spectacular TD by Martavis Bryant(watch the highlight, even OBJ tweeted about it)to start the 4th quarter against Cincinnati. The Bengals responded with a TD and a field goal to pull within five. Then another touchdown gave Cincy a 16-15 lead with under two minutes left. They went for two,and executed the worst ever two-point conversion in NFL history.I think they lost 8-10 yards on that play. They should’ve gone for 2,but the play they called would haunt Cincy, who had the longest playoff win drought in the league. They and Detroit haven’t won since 1990.Cincy,playing with a backup quarterback in AJ McCarron, had injured Steelers starter Ben Roethlisberger, and intercepted backup Landry Jones in Steeler territory to seemingly end the game via Vontaze Burfict with about 90 seconds left. All they had to do was not fumble and they’d be winners.RB Jeremy Hill fumbled,Pittsburgh recovered, and Roethlisberger was back on the field. Can’t get worse, can it?It can.On a pass play,Burfict delivered a late hit and concussed WR Antonio Brown(although Bengal Adam Jones later accused AB of faking a concussion),a 15-yard penalty. Then Adam Jones was called for unsportsmanlike conduct, giving a total of 30 free yards for Pittsburgh.Boswell nailed his fourth FG,and Pittsburgh won 18-16.After a 38-7 upending of Minnesota in Minneapolis, the Seattle Seahawks trailed the Vikes 9-0 thanks to three Blair Walsh FGs at the start of the fourth.Yet Walsh would end up the goat.Seattle came back to lead 10-9.Walsh had one more chance to make a gimme 27-yard FG.The laces were in on the kick, but Walsh made a nearly 50-yarder with laces in earlier. The kick is up,and it’s…no good.Wide left.Game over.An inconsolable Walsh walked off the field in shame. After a safety of reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers, the Redskins added a FG and a TD(missed PAT)for an 11-0 lead over the Green Bay Packers. The Pack roared back and led 17-11 at halftime.Washington scored one last time to lead 18-17,and were shut out the rest of the way in a 35-18 Green Bay win.I predict the Patriots over the Chiefs 35-31,who are riding an 11-game win streak. The Steelers will utilize their D to beat Denver 18-16.The white-hot Seahawks will defeat a slowing Panthers squad 27-23,and Arizona beats the Pack 41-10.The Steelers will stun New England 24-17,taking a 17-3 lead into halftime, and Seattle beats Arizona 20-19.Seattle will win a 39-30 Super Bowl.
