Spanish midfield maestro Rodri has seen a sizable shift in his odds to win the Ballon d’Or after winning the Euros for Spain and bagging the Player of the Tournament Award to boot.
The Man City stalwart bagged an astonishing 12 goals and 15 assists this season from the defensive midfield while winning a fourth straight Premier League Trophy and reaching the quarterfinals of the Champions League. According to bet365, his odds for football’s most prestigious individual award have shortened to 11/8, second only to Brazil and Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr.
Other contenders for the award include Vinicius and teammate Jude Bellingham, who led Real Madrid to Champions League glory in June, Kylian Mbappé for his 50 goals in all competitions for PSG and France, and Rodri’s Spanish teammates Dani Carvajal and Lamine Yamal for their contributions to Spain’s Euro victory.
The consideration period ends on July 31 and the nominees will be announced on September 4. The award’s winner will be announced by French publication L’Equipe on October 28.
