USAG Gymnast Jordan Chiles Expresses Disappointment Over CAS Ruling

American gymnast Jordan Chiles took to social media to voice her disappointment after the IOC and Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled to strip her of her bronze medal at the floor event at the Paris Olympics.

Chiles stated that the ruling felt “unjust” and that she “will make every effort to ensure that justice is done.”

Having initially been placed in fifth place  for her floor routine, an inquiry filed by Team USA head coach Cecile Landi moved Chiles into third and onto the podium, displacing Romania’s Ana Barbosu. The Romanian Olympic Committee then filed a complaint, saying that Landi’s inquiry was filed four seconds too late, which was later controversially upheld by the IOC who awarded Barbosu the bronze and stripped Chiles of her medal.

USAG has stated their intent to allow Chiles to keep her medal in spite of the ruling. It is unclear as to whether or not Chiles will be forced to return her physical medal.
